Wedding Photography: Stephanie & Vyacheslav

The shots in this album of wedding photography were taken in Vaughan, Ontario. I started shooting at the bride’s house while she and her bridesmaids were getting ready for the ceremony, and then we got in a limousine and headed to the church where the ceremony was to be performed. When we got to the church, the groom and his groomsmen were already there awaiting our arrival. As soon as I met the groom, I could tell he was nervous. He didn’t smile that much, so it was a bit difficult to obtain some good shots, and I had to pay a lot of attention to capture his best expressions. I even had to ask the groomsmen to help make him relax and laugh naturally by picking him up off of the floor and messing around with him. Tricking people to get them to relax is another part of a photographer’s job, especially with wedding photography since many couples tend to be really nervous on their big day.

After the ceremony, there was a break before the reception, so we went to a nearby park for some intimate and casual photos with the bridal party. Since it was a summer wedding, it was still bright out, even at seven o’clock in the evening. We then went to the reception hall to get some photos of the couple’s families and friends mingling about. People like to be photographed, which is one reason why photo booths are getting more and more popular at weddings these days. I should consider setting one up next time so the guests can receive instant prints to take home with them as memorabilia of the special occasion. Photo booths can be fun and creative. However, it would surely be a lot more work, so I think I would need to hire an assistant to help out. 🙂
